Market Yourself

You are the CEO of your career.  Every time you’re going into a job interview, a meeting, or even out for a cup of coffee you are marketing your skill set, your brand of solution, you are marketing you!  In the interview context the following three things have come up for me in the last year:

Sacred Time Always Be Marketing

  1. You have to know who you are talking to in order to know the type of solution you bring.  Do your homework.
  2. You have to believe in yourself.  You’re good so spin every answer you give in that direction, including questions around your weaknesses.
  3. You have to be curious in the moment.  Even if you think all your questions are being answered, think of something in the moment to ask to show that you’re paying attention.
